Does what we talk about in therapy remain confidential?
Confidentiality is one of the most important aspects of therapy. You and your therapist will need honest information about you, and your goals, to find the best path to achieving those goals. Your sessions are for your development and will not be disclosed unless you, or your guardian, give prior written authorization or as required by law.
Furthermore, your therapy sessions are considered part of your Personal Health Information, part of your medical record. It is protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule.
